Mission Statement:

Sarasota Chinese Academy is a non-profit, non-religious, non-political, cultural, and educational institution. The school offers Chinese language classes and cultural programs to all individuals regardless of race, color, faith, sex or ethnic origin. The mission of the school is to:
  • Provide quality Chinese language instructions in a safe environment to local community members in Sarasota and surrounding counties;
  • Promote understanding and appreciation of traditional Chinese culture, history and philosophy;
  • Promote friendship and serve as a liaison between the American Chinese community and the non-Chinese speaking community.

    • Message from the Principal's Office:

    Shu De(Shu De Zhong Wen Xue Yuan) is the Chinese name of The Sarasota Chinese Academy. "Shu" means tree, which symbolizes how education fosters one's ability or talent(s). "De" means virtue or morals. Our Chinese name was based on the principle that education helps students to develop moral integrity of heart and mind, in order to become contributing members of our society and world at large.

    Parent volunteers are needed for PTO volunteer jobs. please contact Ms. Nancy Milholland to sign up for any of the following jobs:

    __Help with clean up after classes (one time during the semester)
    __Help with snack sales (our ongoing PTO fundraiser)
    __Join the curriculum committee and help research about the latest language instruction methods and tools.
    __Special Events Help: Moon Festival, Chinese New Year and more...

    When you email include the months that are best for you to help out and any specific times you are not available.
